We are recruiting

Below you'll find the current vacancies available at SyndicateRoom, both at our main office in Cambridge (UK) and our office in Lisbon (Portugal).

A little about SyndicateRoom

We believe that everyone should have equal access to sophisticated investment opportunities, and that the crowd should get the same deal as the professionals.

This philosophy first manifested itself in our ‘investor-led’ equity crowdfunding structure, which made it possible for the crowd to invest alongside angel investors and on the same economic terms. Since then we have collaborated with leading industry organisations, such as Gust and Wayra, to bring our members the best deals and, most recently, rocked the world of crowdfunding once again by becoming the first crowdfunding platform to give members access to public markets.

And we’re going to keep on pushing the envelope.

We have established a reputation for quality and are proud of both the service we offer and of the network of members who we serve, many of whom are experienced and successful entrepreneurs who have chosen to invest via our platform. This winning formula is facilitating continued rapid growth which has been further strengthened by our own fundraising campaign, held on our own platform, which hit its target of £2.3m in ten hours before overfunding to £3.1m.

Everything we do is in pursuit of achieving our vision of a fair, sustainable and transparent investment industry. We invite you to join us on our journey.

Associate – Nominee Services

Location – Cambridge

Start: ASAP

Vacancies: One position available

Type: Full-time/permanent

Salary: £22,000–£27,000

General description

We’re looking for someone to join a lively, fast-growing company in an internal controller role, working with a wide selection of investee businesses and their investors. Each company is unique and fascinating, so it will be an opportunity to use and develop your skills whilst engaging with exciting companies.

In addition to being the bridge between companies and investors, you will take a lead role in administering our recently closed, unique EIS fund, and processing applications Q4 2017 through to April 2018 when we come to raise the next fund.

This is a process-oriented role that will suit someone with great attention to detail who likes to follow projects through to completion. The role requires you to be highly organised and structured in your work. You will work alongside many others in the business, but will also be expected to work independently.

You will have direct contact with clients – though we’ll be there to support you – and will require excellent time-management skills, a knack for problem-solving and organisational flexibility. Expect to have a number of projects on the go at any one time.

Although no specific prior experience is required as we’ll provide all the on-the-job training you need, we would prefer you have experience in working within a regulated environment. You’ll also be in regular contact with a number of investors and so must love communicating with people and be able to maintain a positive attitude when under pressure. As the work is critical to our compliance and our goal of transparent investing, you will need to maintain control in a dynamic and time-pressured environment.

There is plenty of potential for personal and career development for talented and motivated individuals as we are rapidly growing as a business.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Nominee management – you will be responsible for managing and organising the nominee duties of all companies that raise funds on the platform. This includes tracking investment rounds and ensuring all the required documentation is controlled in an auditable manner
  • Fund administration – you will summarise activity of our fund and send regular reports to our fund investors. When it comes time for further fundraising, you will work with investor applications to build the new fund
  • Company and investor communications – you will serve as a bridge between companies and investors, working with diverse, exciting companies to get business updates and communicate these to investors
  • Process support – you will help refine and improve our nominee and fund management processes for companies and investors, including providing feedback and suggestions, and even creating new processes

Requirements

  • Highly computer literate
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Working in an immensely organised manner
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets and reliably transforming data
  • Building reliable, predictable and scalable processes
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Effective communication abilities (both written and verbal)
  • Must have a good work ethic and be willing to learn quickly
  • Must enjoy building relationships and working with people
  • Experience with the finance industry is desirable (but not essential)
