Hollywood director, Simon West has beaten the target he sought to raise on Cambridge crowdfunding platform SyndicateRoom.
His target was £1.8 million but today he was closing in on £2.2m. The cash will help fund West’s new £10m movie ‘Salty.’ West’s films – including ConAir, Tomb Raider, The General’s Daughter, Expendables 2, When a Stranger Calls and The Mechanic – have grossed over $1 billion at the box office.
The SyndicateRoom raising was a world first UK equity crowdfunding campaign by Hollywood. Crowdfunding investment through SyndicateRoom is eligible for Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) tax relief.
