The business has raised £2.6m of investment since 2011. Its cornerstone investor is the Low Carbon Innovation Fund, and the company also has 63 angel investors including one who has put in a third of a million pounds.

Bactest plans to start a new fundraising round this month to raise £250,000 via a crowd-funding platform called the Syndicate Room, also based Cambridge.
